Thanksgiving is a day for the celebration of family, friends and loved ones. While spending time together and feasting, it’s important to stay safe! Here are some simple food safety tips that can keep you and your loved ones healthy so you can take on Black Friday and the rest of the holiday season.
- Wash hands with soap and water before handling food or eating. If you touch raw meat or poultry it is especially important to wash your hands before handing anything else.

Turn any room in your house into a home theater with a projector! Simply hook up your media player to the device and project it onto a white wall. Think outside the box with this: in addition to hooking up your DVD player, many projectors can view video and images from personal media players, mobile phones, PDAs, cameras and more with ease. It also makes a great environment for gaming! In addition, there are pocket projectors for the dad on the go that can also make use of it at work.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, readers! This holiday was originally created to commemorate the Mexican army’s victory against the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Today, many people take advantage of the holiday to celebrate Mexican heritage, which usually includes margaritas and excellent Mexican cuisine. Our friends over at GE Appliances have some great recipes, including this Mexican-inspired taco casserole dish. Grab some chips, a chilled drink, and enjoy!

Happy Earth Day! Earth Day is a celebration of environmental protection and inspires awareness to our planet’s health every April 22. Did you know that P.C. Richard & Son promotes recycling, energy-saving appliances and green initiatives all year round? Here are a few ways we help protect the environment and some suggestions on great green products for your home.
What We Do
We here at P.C. Richard & Son deal with a lot of plastic, cardboard and Styrofoam with product packaging. We break down all cardboard boxes that hold all orders we receive and separate it from any plastic and Styrofoam that is also included in the packaging. The plastic and Styrofoam is collected and cardboard grouped into bails to be sent to a recycling plant where it is reused and repurposed. Our Deer Park Clearance Center alone sees four to five hundred boxes ever week and a half or so, so that’s tens of thousands of pounds of cardboard, plastic and Styrofoam recycled every year from our 60 locations.
