Create Your Backyard Getaway

Backyard Getaway

If you’re lucky enough to have an outdoor living space, take advantage of it! The backyard doesn’t have to be an extra piece of space just for the dog, it can be a welcoming extension of your home. All you need is some imagination and a little planning. Here are some great tips to get you started!

Design a Layout

The first thing you want to think about is layout.  When planning the layout of your backyard, think of it as you would your home: divided into “rooms” for different activities. Take into consideration where you will want to eat, relax, entertain, etc. Remember multiple levels or different surface areas help define different zones, like the patio, deck, lawn or garden.

Creating an Outdoor Kitchen

If you like barbecuing and eating outdoors, you will definitely want establish an area where you can easily cook and serve your guests. The space and your budget will determine how fancy you get, but you don’t need to get too fancy to make this work; simply a grill and a table and chairs will do the trick. If you really enjoy grilling and you find yourself eating outdoors 2-3 times a week, you may want to consider getting a countertop for food prep and storage.  Later down the road you may even want to add a refrigerator and sink to make preparation and clean up even easier.

Relaxation Station

Do you enjoy sun bathing, reading a book, or having a cocktail around a fire pit? Think about what you do to unwind and design the perfect area in your yard to do just that. If you enjoy lounging in the sun, Adirondack chairs would be perfect for this area, or check out Hanover’s outdoor egg-shaped swings if you’re looking for a comfy place to read a good book.

Some yards take on more sunlight than others and if there are no trees to create shading it can get really hot.  If you are looking for a place to relax in the shade an outdoor umbrella can help you create a shaded area so that you can relax comfortably.

Whether you are hosting a party in your yard, relaxing, or playing games, you can enjoy your favorite music with outdoor speakers.  There are a variety of different styles to help match your backyard’s personality. And don’t stop with the music! have you ever considered an outdoor television? An outdoor TV is perfect for movie nights in the summer or watching sporting events.  SunBrite HDTVs are engineered for permanent outdoor placement, they are completely waterproof, viewable in direct sunlight and built and styled for safety in an outdoor environment.

Once you have this basic layout down you can really have some fun by adding all the little extras! Take Your Home Entertainment Experience To The Backyard

Football season is right around the corner, and the smell of Buffalo wings is in the air. Football is not just a game you sit on the couch and enjoy; it’s an event! For those who can’t make it to the game, you need to bring that same excitement and energy to your home every Sunday. Want to know how to bring your game day experience to a whole new level?

Imagine watching the game in your own backyard, barbecuing with family and friends while the kids play catch. This is the next best thing to being at the game. Chances are you already have a grill and patio furniture; all you’re missing is the perfect outdoor television. Before you run out and purchase a TV for your backyard tailgate, there are a few things you should know.

An indoor TV won’t cut it. Myth is that you can use an indoor TV outside, but doing so will likely void your warranty and you will end up with an overheated TV. TV’s are designed to work within a certain temperature range; start pushing the edges of that range and bad things are going to happen. The operating temperature of an outdoor TV has a much larger range than an indoor TV. Unlike indoor TV’s, SunBriteTVs, the leading manufacturer of outdoor television, can range from as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit to as high as 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Outdoor televisions are built with an exterior design to protect internal components from rain, dust, insects, humidity and salt air. These televisions are made to be installed permanently outdoors. Indoor TVs are not.

Once you have decided on the screen size; pick a spot in your yard for installation that isn’t facing directly into the sunlight. An outdoor TV is not much different in this way to an indoor TV. SunBriteTVs come with variable backlighting that allows the brightest picture possible during the day and dimmed for viewing at night.

Obviously there are other benefits to purchasing an outdoor television than just watching football games. Do you remember Drive-in Theaters? You can replicate that same experience with a movie night in your own yard! Watch your favorite sitcom or try your next workout video outside instead of indoors. . . there are so many ways to appreciate outdoor television viewing!
